psychology is the study of the soul, the psyche is the soul, spirit or mind, thus it is not separate from spirituality but pointing to the same thing, that which is the originator of life, of all life. There is not the soul and then you or the mind and then you it is the same thing all taking place within consciousness which is "you" or "all." Consciousness experiences life through the body, it is the eyes, ears, emotions and feelings, the five senses if you will and that which is beyond them.
Notice that everyone speaks from the same vantage point of "I" regardless of age, sex, color or creed its all the same inside! The only thing that separates us is our thoughts and those we believe to be true, thus when in no mind or no thought one becomes whole or returns to awareness or presence. If you really look at this ability to think and ask it how old it is you will see that it is ageless, in other words, think back to when you were young, notice that the "thinker" or ability (awareness) used back then is no different today, it is wiser, more experienced but "it" is of no age, the body is but "you" are not.
The whole world (most of it) is within the condition of identity crisis, consciousness saw its image "reflection" and fell in love with it forgetting who its truly always been and mind being a self validating system of thoughts is suffering greatly due to its own beliefs of its own thoughts.
Consider the basis for the definitions you wrote above, what is this information based on? What is normal and who is normal enough to define it? In other words who originated spirit in that in knows what exactly normal is? In Neanderthal times they believed they were normal, what else could they know?
Thus the current basis for "civilized" or "socially normal" is to create biological and nuclear weapons to promote peace, does this not sound like insanity or is this just accepted as normal or is insanity the blind acceptance of that which others tell you is normal? Compared to what, on what basis is civilized normal? If there were no weapons or thoughts of enemy would there not naturally be peace? I'm using extreme examples I know, but showing what a false identity and the power of beliefs can do, just look around, people kill for identities which are all mind made beliefs or illusion thus the mind attaches itself to the thoughts it produces and then goes and does what it tells itself to do all because it believes it is its thoughts and not the power behind them, the controller of itself. When you sit in silence or stop moving the mind forward you begin to see thought for what it is, that which shapes life but nothing more, it is a tool to help move one through life but not truth or factual, as that which is factual is, it doe not need to be describe with thought. Like you don't need to say the sun is out or its beautiful or this or that, it is what it is, nothing more, nothing less all those words are just judgments of the mind or thoughts!
And always remember words are only words, pointers to something, not the actual thing itself.
here is the etymology of "psyche"-"psychology"
psyche 1640s, "animating spirit," from L. psyche, from Gk. psykhe "the soul, mind, spirit, breath, life, the invisible animating principle or entity which occupies and directs the physical body" (personified as Psykhe, the lover of Eros), akin to psykhein "to blow, cool," from PIE root *bhes- "to blow" (cf. Skt. bhas-). The word had extensive sense development in Platonic philosophy and Jewish-influenced theological writing of St. Paul. In English, psychological sense is from 1910.
psychology 1650s, "study of the soul," probably coined mid-16c. in Germany by Melanchthon as Mod.L. psychologia, from Gk. psykhe- "breath, spirit, soul" (see psyche) + logia "study of" (see -logy). Meaning "study of the mind" first recorded 1748, from G. Wolff's Psychologia empirica (1732); main modern behavioral sense is from 1895.
